This March Break join the Royal BC Museum for in-person family fun with special events and the last chance to see Orcas: Our Shared Future before it closes on March 31.
“We can’t wait to welcome families to the Royal BC Museum during March Break,” says Erika Stenson, A/Vice President of Museum Operations at the Royal BC Museum. “People of all-ages, Victoria residents and visitors alike, will have fun while learning about the natural world of British Columbia, while exploring Orcas: Our Shared Future as well as the museum’s Natural History Galleries.”
The museum learning team has prepared six, special, one-hour, March Break, in-person events, scheduled for 12:00 Noon each day from March 14 to 16 and March 18 to 20. The events examining Animals of the Land, Sea and Air are free with museum admission and take place on the 2nd floor in the Natural History Gallery. Throughout the week the learning team will be exploring the animals among us, through hands-on investigation of museum specimens and a hands-on craft activity. On March 14 and 18, the team takes you on a dive deep into the waters of BC to find out more about the Animals of the Sea. Slither, crawl, hop or pounce throughout the landscapes of BC to find out more about the Animals of the Land on March 15 and 19. On March 16 and 20, participants will fly high up into the skies of BC to find out more about the Animals of the Air. If you can’t join in person, fear not, kids can join online and create their own ‘fish fossils’ at home, at 11am on March 17.
Visitors to Orcas: Our Shared Future can take a deep dive into the lives of whales through dramatic displays (including three life-size orca replicas), immersive games and provocative videos. Guests of all ages will explore currents of ecological activism, popular culture and Indigenous beliefs to gain a deeper understanding of how orcas and humans are inextricably connected.
And of course, a movie at the IMAX® Victoria is always popular with the whole family. Why not check out the awe-inspiring Antarctica, catch a last look at Humpback Whales, or buckle your seatbelt for a trip Into America’s Wild.
