About Publications

When John Fannin, the Royal BC Museum’s first curator, published his Check List of British Columbia Birds in 1891, he set in motion a publishing program that has engaged and informed British Columbians for nearly 128 years. Since that first publication, the Royal BC Museum has released hundreds of works on diverse subjects, bringing the human and natural history of our province to life in exciting, innovative and personal ways.

Royal BC Museum books are distributed by University of Toronto Press in Canada with sales representation from Ampersand Inc., and by IPG in the USA. For more information on wholesale ordering, see our current catalogue.

The Royal BC Museum book program produces high-quality non-fiction literature about the human and natural history of British Columbia. We primarily publish popular and semi-popular publications that expand understanding of British Columbia’s human and natural history and stimulate interest in museum and archive collections and research. If you would like to submit a proposal, please review our submission guidelines.
